1900s CROCODILE VANTIY CASE BY ALLEN, 37 STRAND LONDON

Sale price£795.00

Magnificent 1900s Allen Crocodile Vanity Case

A stunning example of a Crocodile Vanity Case, made by Allen, 37 Strand London. Makers of the finest, heavy-duty traditional leather luggage. Their heyday seems to have been from 1870-90. Most products were designed for travel by horse-drawn carriage and later by train, and the company which advertised aggressively until the turn of the century, faded from view with the advent of the motor-car and demand for more modern luggage.

A very collectable piece and a desirable antique in the true sense of the word.

A usable conker brown Vintage Crocodile leather suitcase in great condition and made in England around about the turn of the last century. The case comes with 2 brass locks to the front. The handle is held in place with 2 brass D rings. The watermarked silk lining is in good condition. Stamped on the silk is the makers mark, which shows that Allen won prize medals awarded for general excellency and were Royal Warrant holders to the King. There is also the makers name embossed on gold to the front of the case.

All the stitching is in perfect condition.

This case lid has the initials V.F.B embossed in faded gold.

Increasingly it is rare to find Crocodile cases that are in good enough shape to be used...this is one of them.

Another great weekend case, for those that like to travel in style.
