1900s LARGE FINNIGANS CANVAS & LEATHER CAMPAIGN TRUNK

£795.00

1900s Large Finnigans Canvas & Leather campaign trunk

A beautiful example of a large canvas and leather campaign trunk, made by Finnigans of Manchester. The House of Finnigan was a British Luxury luggage and trunk maker established in 1830, originally in Manchester and later in New Bond Street in London.

This trunk is in remarkably good condition for its age. The leather corners and straps have been fed and are in a nice supple condition. The leather lock protector is stamped with the makers name - FINNIGANS MANCHESTER. There is a blue and white striped ticking covered tray that lifts out. The rest of the interior lining is in blue and white striped ticking and in good clean condition. The inside of the trunk is deep, allowing for an amazing amount of storage space. The brass lock is stamped with FINNIGANS LTD MANCHESTER. It also has leather handles at each end held in place with more brass work. The lid of the case is decorated with brass studs.

This trunk is rather large.....measuring 91cm x 58cm x 47cm.  Ideally suited for any Colonial interior scheme. For someone who has always desired a complete usable Canvas and leather trunk made by one of the top luggage manufacturers of the day, then this is for you.
