Fine example of a 1920s Cleghorn Leather Suitcase
A stunning example of a leather suitcase, made by Cleghorn of Edinburgh.
Cleghorn was a prolific maker of fabulous quality luggage in cowhide, but also notable for leather-trimmed canvas baggage in various shades of grey and green. This suitcase is in remarkably good condition for its age. The leather has been fed and is in a nice supple condition, there are no rips or tears and the stitching is all intact and strong. The lid has been relined. Both the locks are stamped with the Cleghorn name. The handle is strong and attached via 2 brass studs. There are various luggage labels on the lid and at both ends you will find the Cleghorn stamp.
This case is a nice useable size! Measuring 66cm x 42cm x 20cm. You can fit a lot of kit in there! For someone who has always desired a beautiful leather suitcase made by one of the legendary makers, then this is for you.
They don't make cases like this anymore and if they did the price would be unaffordable to most. If you own a Pre-war classic or just love the style of the 1910/20/30s then this one is for you.
