125th Anniversary of the Royal Household Golf Club

We were delighted to be part of a very special occasion in July 2026, as the Royal Household Golf Club at Windsor Castle celebrated its 125th anniversary.
To mark this wonderful milestone, members and guests stepped back in time for a traditional round of hickory golf, playing the private course with vintage hickory clubs and dressing in authentic 1920s and 1930s-style golfing attire. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the club’s history and the game of golf from a bygone era.

The commemorative event was organised alongside southern England hickory golf groups, including SE Hickory Golf, bringing together golfers who share a passion for the unique character and experience of hickory golf.
Their passion is centred around sharing the unique thrill of a well-struck hickory shot and the wonderful sense of connection that comes from playing with a club that may be around 100 years old.
Their lovingly restored clubs are, quite literally, living antiques. Rather than modern numbered clubs, Hickory clubs have evocative names such as Spoon, Mashie, Mashie Niblick, Niblick and Cleek, each offering a fascinating glimpse into golf's past.

The South of England Hickory Golf Company also works with customers to create unforgettable and truly unique vintage golf events. From straightforward hickory club rental to fully immersive vintage golfing experiences, they offer a range of ways to enjoy the charm and character of golf from a bygone era.

Being part of the Royal Household Golf Club’s 125th anniversary celebration was a real privilege. We were absolutely in our element, surrounded by wonderful people, beautiful historic clubs and the unmistakable charm of golf from another era.
