1920s Army & Navy Co-Operative Society Ltd Gladstone Kit Bag

A good example of a vintage leather kit bag, more commonly known as a Gladstone bag, made by Army & Navy Co-Operative Society Ltd of 105 Victoria Street, Westminster SW. Advertised as dressing-bag makers, and trunk and portmanteau makers. It was a famous military outfitters up until the 1990s. A prolific but desirable name and stunning build quality.

This bag is in remarkably good condition for its age. It features solid brass fittings throughout, and a re-enforced sole, which has been attached using brass rivets. The leather has been fed and is in a nice supple condition, there are no rips or tears and the stitching is all intact and strong. The original lining is in fantastic condition with no smells or stains, and the original makers label still attached. There is one surface scratch which can be seen in the photos provided.

This bag is large! Measuring 66cm x 35cm x 36cm. You can fit a lot of kit in there! For someone who has always desired one of these, then it's a must have item.

They don't make bags like this anymore and if they did the price would be unaffordable to most. If you own a Pre-war classic or just love the style of the 1920/30s then this one is for you.
